|Bio||Brad is a highly skilled and well-respected community leader. With 25 years of extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector, Brad has assisted many organizations with their fund development management, public relations, volunteer coordination or marketing needs. His extensive experience and knowledge has benefited many charities and associations: National Development Director Catholic Missions in Canada, Field Agent Knights of Columbus, Executive Director Conservation Foundation of Hamilton, Executive Director Songwriters Association of Canada, Vice-President Development St. Peter’s Foundation.
The Honourable Brad Clark served the people of Ontario as MPP for Stoney Creek, Minister of Labour, Minister of Transportation, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health and Long Term Care, Commissioner on the Board of Internal Economy.
Currently, Brad is serving as the elected Councillor for Ward 9 in the City of Hamilton. Brad served or is serving on the following committees: Committee of the Whole, Board of Health, Licensing Tribunal, Audit and Administration Committee, Economic Development and Planning Committee, Facility Naming Sub-committee, City Housing Hamilton, Hamilton Future Fund, Chair of Development Charges Review Sub-committee, Farmers Market Transition Committee, Accountability and Transperancy Committee, Fairness to Hamilton Committee, Human Services Plan Steering Committee, Parkway Implementation, Accessible Transit Services Review Task Force, Provincial Gas Tax Transit Master Plan, Truck Route Sub-committee, Governance Committee, Hamilton Renewable Power, Heritage Green Community Trust, Newalta Community Liaison Committee, Stoney Creek BIA, Stoney Creek Flag Day Committee, and the Hamilton Conservation Authority. Brad has served on a total of 27 committees during his first term on council.

|Hamilton's Cycling Master Plan has Council approval. However, the implementation timeline is very long and ward councillors can block individual bike lane projects. Do you support accelerating the completion of a continuous bicycle network and other initiatives like a bike sharing program and better access up and down the Escarpment? Why or why not?||Yes||We do need safe bike lanes on mountain accesses that can be utilized by bikes or electric bikes. As for the expansion of the bike lanes, I believe we should be installing the new bike lanes as we rebuild our road infrastructure.|
|For your campaign, will you be accepting donations from corporations or unions? If so, why? If not, why not?||Yes||I will be abiding by the Municipal Elections Act. Each donation that I receive, whether individual or corporate, is reviewed prior to acceptance and deposit.|
|Council is poised to vote on the Airport Employment Growth District, a 3,000 acre plan to expand the urban boundary around Hamilton International Airport for employment lands. Do you support this plan? Why or why not?||Yes||I do support the AEGD. We have found that most companies looking to site a new factory have no interest in brown-fields. Since, Hamilton needs industrial tax assessment and jobs, we must proceed with carefully planned employment lands. In the mean time, we need to set up a Hamilton brown-field liability working group to find ways to eliminate barriers to brown-field redevelopment.|
|Should we spend the Future Fund to build a Pan Am / Ticat stadium on the CP Rail Yard lands? Why or why not?||Yes||The fund should be used for any legacy projects in any part of the City. We need to remember that Stoney Creek Hydro dividends also contributed to the creation of the Future Fund. Since the stadium will qualify for Pam Am Games Legacy funding and our youth will have access to the stadium for sports training and games, then it only seems appropriate that the fund be utilized for this project.|
|Some cities have committed recently to publishing their public data in an open format that citizens can directly access. Should Hamilton pledge to become an "open source city"? Why or why not?||Yes||Adopt a policy of "Proactive Disclosure" on expenses. I will strongly advocate for a new policy where City Councillors and management proactively disclose all expenditures and expenses incurred through their offices: travel expenses, accommodations, mileage, meetings, meals etc. This policy will increase accountability and lower the City's expenses on freedom of information requests.
Adopt a policy of "Access by Design". I will encourage Council to move to the Access by Design paradigm, where City held information is proactively released to the public as opposed to the current policy of reacting to freedom of information requests. Exceptions should be limited and specific. While the City is responsible to protect the privacy of third parties, it is equally responsible to ensure that information flows in an open and transparent process that allows citizens to hold their government accountable. The Ontario Privacy Commissioner has developed policies to guide municipalities in this transition.
|Do you support Hamilton's LRT proposal? If so, what will you do to ensure Hamilton's success in building LRT? If not, why do you oppose it?||Yes||I support the LRT proposal provided the City of Hamilton does not have to contribute to the capital costs. I do not support the left hand turn restrictions along the route. The restriction is not necessary. We simply need to pass a by-law giving the LRT the right of way just like the TTC in Toronto.|
