BioGeordie Elms and his wife Shirley have been married for 35 years and have called Hamilton Mountain home since 2000, when Geordie was appointed Commanding Officer of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada in Hamilton.

Colonel (Retired) Geordie Elms was born and raised in Toronto. In 1967, he followed his grandfather and father into the ranks of the 48th Highlanders of Canada, where he joined as a piper. In 1974, Geordie joined The Royal Canadian Regiment as an officer. His overseas tours of duty have included Germany, Cyprus, Lebanon, Israel, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bosnia. In 2003, he became the Defence Advisor to the Canadian High Commission in Pakistan and to the Canadian Embassy in Afghanistan. He opened the first Canadian Defence Attaché Office in Afghanistan, where he served until November 2007. His final appointment was as Defence Attaché to Israel.

Geordie is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Royal Canadian Military Institute as well as Canada Company, an organization that connects Canadian civilian leaders with their military counterparts through such foundations as True Patriot Love and Wounded Warriors. Geordie is also a member of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada Senate and the 48th Highlanders Pipes and Drums Association. He is a Maple Leafs hockey fan but eagerly awaits the day when Hamilton will have an NHL team. He also looks forward to the day when Stan Rogers will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

Geordie has proudly served his country for over 35 years in the Canadian military, and is now ready and eager to proudly serve his friends and neighbours of Hamilton Mountain as their next Ontario PC Member of Provincial Parliament.
