Bio | Rick Gunderman is a factory worker, musician and community activist, and organizer of the Hamilton Young Communist League. Rick has grown up in Hamilton and studied journalism at Mohawk College.
Rick calls for a future for youth and supports the campaign for a Charter of Youth Rights. He demands fair trade, not free trade and to protect Canadian jobs and sovereignty. "We need to nationalize US Steel now and restart Ontario's basic steel industry," Rick says, adding that if the people and the government control the industry they can set aggressive environmental standards of production. Rick also calls for expanding value-added manufacturing and secondary industry in Hamilton and across the country. "Hamilton could be the place for building a machine tool industry, appliance industry, agricultural implements, and ship-building." |
