Bob has extensive experience as a leader in the Hamilton community Bob served three terms as a city alderman and regional councillor representing Hamilton Mountain During this time, Bob took on the challenge of Finance Chair, first with the city and then the region As committee chair, Bob guided the city and region to multiple years of 0% property tax increases Throughout his time in public office and volunteering, Bob has always been committed to getting the most for Hamilton Bob was the chief negotiator in securing the transfer of the port lands along the Hamilton Waterfront to city ownership He continues to work on renewing and redeveloping Hamilton’s waterfront as a volunteer serving on the Board of the Waterfront Trust As a public representative, Bob gained a reputation of fairness and moderation Bob has a business background. He knows the importance of getting the most out of every dollar – and knows that government must be more efficient in spending your money Prior to entering politics, Bob worked as a real estate broker; following his time on Council he spent 12 years as Director of Operations at Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Ward 7 Bob currently works as a Mortgage Agent for Matrix Mortgage Global and a Real Estate Agent with Jim Pauls Real Estate Ltd. Bob and his wife Kathy both grew up and attended school on Hamilton mountain, where they currently reside Community Involved Bob's work in the community has given him a wide-ranging background: Health Care: Bob sat on the Board of the Hamilton Civic Hospitals Environment: Bob served nine years on the Niagara Escarpment Commission; He also sat on the Hamilton Region Conservation Authority Board; Bob championed brownfield redevelopment and Green Venture funding while serving on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board Social Issues: Bob served on the Board and worked with Habitat for Humanity on their first projects in Hamilton; He served as President of Hamilton Non-Profit Housing, advancing the development of social housing initiatives in the downtown core. Bob has also worked to make Hamilton better for street youth with his involvement with Living Rock (Soupfest) as Board Chairman |
