QuestionBrief ResponseFull Response
The Province has shelved a proposal to build a mid-peninsula highway from Niagara Falls or Fort Erie around Hamilton to connect with Hwy 401 or 407 north of Burlington. Do you agree with the Province's decision to put its development on hold? Yes Yes, I agree with the Province's decision to put its development on hold.
Do you support implementing a Vision Zero for Hamilton, with a goal of eliminating all pedestrian and cyclist deaths on our streets? If so, what specific actions would you take to implement this policy, and if not, why? Yes My platform is to make roads safer in Ancaster. There are trafficked areas which have no sidewalks. And gravel shoulders which could potentially cause cars to skid and people to fall into gullies trying to get to a bus stop. This is not limited to Ancaster I am sure.
The City's Cycling Master Plan is up for review. Do you support improving the plan to speed the installation of cycling facilities and provide more high-quality protected infrastructure like the new Cannon Street cycle track? Maybe I think we need t be discerning on which streets.. One way streets have always been a concern,, but I would like to see documented people's feedback..
Do you support the use of participatory budgeting to allow ward residents to propose and vote on local capital projects? Yes Yes, I support participatory budgeting to allow ward residents to propose and vote on local capital projects. As tax payers we should have a say. And live with the result is we don't take that opportunity.
Do you believe City Hall should be more accessible to Hamilton residents? If so, what steps would you take to achieve this? Yes City Hall should be more accessible. For one, look at internal processes. It sometimes takes 3 people to get information and get one thing done. As for the Mayor and Councillors themselves, constituents should trust that they will hear back from their councillor when whey have a problem. I am hearing this quite a bit.
The Province plans to allow municipalities to use ranked ballots in future elections. If so, will you vote to adopt ranked ballots in Hamilton? Maybe I need more information than what I have seen on the internet to intelligibly comment
Do you support the city's plan to build an east-west light rail transit (LRT) line with full capital funding from the Province? No I do not support the LRT
Do you believe Hamilton should do more to protect and enhance its built heritage? Yes Yes, I feel heritage is important, but we need to provide support as well. In Ancaster, if I need a bus when I need it, that limits my ability to enjoy it, unless I drive. Downtown
Do you support an expanded role for Hamilton to provide more affordable housing? If so, what should Hamilton do? No I disagree. As a paralegal I have seen my share of abuse..Extreme and situations you would never believe. Abuse of the system spoil it for those that need it. Taking on more, means a tighter degree of policing.
Do you support converting more of Hamilton's one-way thoroughfares into complete, two-way streets that support walking, cycling and transit? Maybe Admittedly, I will say I am netral on this issue.Cnverting more of Hamilton's one-way thoroughfares into complete, two-way streets that support walking, cycling and transit
