The City's Cycling Master Plan is up for review. Do you support improving the plan to speed the installation of cycling facilities and provide more high-quality protected infrastructure like the new Cannon Street cycle track? No Cyclists should be using secondary streets for their safety and to ease traffic during rush hours. They should also follow the same traffic rules as vehicles.
Do you support the use of participatory budgeting to allow ward residents to propose and vote on local capital projects? Yes Yes to participatory budgeting for each ward. This ensures that development is in tune to the residents and business.
Do you support an expanded role for Hamilton to provide more affordable housing? If so, what should Hamilton do? Yes Yes there should be more affordable housing. Developers must develop housing hat fits all income levels. And not just townhouses.
Do you support converting more of Hamilton's one-way thoroughfares into complete, two-way streets that support walking, cycling and transit? No Many of the one way streets are too narrow for two way traffic so therefore leave them as is. Some can easily be converted to two way and should be two way. Walking should be encouraged at all times in all areas of the city.
The Province has shelved a proposal to build a mid-peninsula highway from Niagara Falls or Fort Erie around Hamilton to connect with Hwy 401 or 407 north of Burlington. Do you agree with the Province's decision to put its development on hold? Yes That Mid Peninsula Highway cuts right through prime grade A farmland. This is the wrong place to build it. I agree 100% to eliminate this proposal. We need to widen Highway 403.
The Province plans to allow municipalities to use ranked ballots in future elections. If so, will you vote to adopt ranked ballots in Hamilton? No Ranked Ballots should not be used. The person with the most votes wins. Who is to say that the top 3 favorites are going to have the most votes.
Do you support the city's plan to build an east-west light rail transit (LRT) line with full capital funding from the Province? No No to LRT. It will not benefit anybody outside of Hamilton.
Do you believe City Hall should be more accessible to Hamilton residents? If so, what steps would you take to achieve this? No City hall is exactly that. A meeting place for the city.
Do you believe Hamilton should do more to protect and enhance its built heritage? Yes Yes we need to protect the heritage of Hamilton. We seem to change the heritage of buildings because someone walks in with a big check.
Do you support implementing a Vision Zero for Hamilton, with a goal of eliminating all pedestrian and cyclist deaths on our streets? If so, what specific actions would you take to implement this policy, and if not, why? Maybe We all are responsible for making sure pedestrians are able to cross streets in a safe manner.
