| Bio | Nancy has lived in Stoney Creek for over 20 years and continues to live in this wonderful community with her husband Tony, and children Sophia and Simon.
A graduate of McMaster University, Nancy continued to pursue her education in her passion - local government. Nancy completed her Master's degree with specialization in local government and leadership. She also earned her Executive Diploma in Municipal Management. Nancy is also a member of the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO) and is working to complete becoming a Certified Municipal Officer (CMO) - the highest standard of the municipal sector given to a municipal professional who has "demonstrated highest standards in municipal experience, expertise, education, and excellence, and can immediately add value to a municipal corporation." - AMCTO Nancy's interest in local government led her to work for several municipalities in the GTA allowing her to work with Mayors and Members of Council as well as municipal staff. Nancy understands municipal processes well. Nancy's experience in municipalities includes, to name a few: Working with the Municipal Act and the Planning Act; Working with many advisory boards, Councils, and Committees such as Heritage Committees, Planning and Development Committees, Standing Committees, other statutory committees such as Accessibility Committees and Election Compliance Audit Committees, and many more; Working with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA); Working with transit and traffic groups; Engaging the public, through various means, in municipal affairs; and Working with Business Improvement Associations (BIA) and Residents Groups. Having tried other levels of government politics, Nancy was not content. Her heart has always been with the grass roots level where a greater ability to make a positive impact on residents is much more possible and a politician is not tied to party politics. A vote for Nancy means a vote for experience, expertise, passion to get results for the community, and strong leadership. |
